Located just minutes from Perth’s CBD, Shenton Park is one of the city’s most prestigious and established suburbs, renowned for its character homes, leafy streets, and timeless architectural appeal. Combining heritage charm with modern living, the area is highly sought after by homeowners looking to enhance and maximise the potential of their properties.
This project was referred to La Vera Building & Management by the project’s architect, who recognised our experience in delivering complex residential renovations and extensions. Working collaboratively from the outset, our team was engaged to bring the architect’s vision to life through a carefully staged construction program that would transform the home while maintaining its character and functionality.
To minimise disruption and allow works to be completed in a logical sequence, the project was delivered across three distinct phases.
The first phase involved the construction of a new ancillary dwelling above the existing garage. Completed over three months, this addition created valuable extra accommodation while making efficient use of the property’s existing footprint. The new structure was carefully integrated with the existing home to ensure a seamless architectural outcome.
The second phase focused on renovating the existing bathrooms and bedrooms. Over a four-month period, these upgrades modernised key living spaces, improved functionality, and enhanced the comfort and usability of the home for the owners.
The third and final phase transformed the heart of the residence through the extension of the living area and kitchen, creating a larger open-plan space designed for contemporary family living and entertaining. A new laundry and dedicated study were also added, providing practical spaces that supported the evolving needs of the household. This stage was completed over six months and represented the most significant transformation of the home.
Throughout the project, a combination of timber stud framing, metal stud framing, and masonry construction was utilised to deliver the new and renovated internal spaces. One of the standout features of the renovation was the installation of polished concrete flooring, providing a durable, low-maintenance finish that complemented the home’s contemporary architectural design. Externally, the residence received a complete rendered finish, creating a cohesive appearance that unified the original home with the new additions. New fencing was installed around the property, along with a new driveway, significantly enhancing privacy, security, and street appeal.
Completed across a staged 13-month construction program, this renovation and extension demonstrates the value of thoughtful planning, strong collaboration, and quality craftsmanship. The result is a beautifully transformed double-storey residence that successfully balances modern functionality with the timeless character that makes Shenton Park such a desirable place to call home.
